Christmas Story Musical Coming To Fox This Holiday Season

It may be Spring, but in Hollywood there's news involving Christmas music.  It seems that Fox has greenlit the Christmas Story musical to be shown 'live' on the network in December.  This being a Christmas Music-related project, we have to point out that while we adore the movie....music and songs aren't something that jump out to us.  So, there's good news here for X-mas music fans:  we bet that we'll be getting some new songs into the canon of Christmas tunes once this show goes from stage to primetime.

From Variety:
A Christmas Story” will be the subject of the next live musical at Fox, Variety has learned.
The production, which will air this December, will be based on the Broadway musical version of the beloved film of the same name, about a Midwestern boy named Ralphie who wants nothing more than a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. The film has achieved cult status since its release in 1983, with TBS annually airing a 24-hour marathon of the film during the holiday season.

Despite this news, it is still not time to listen to Christmas music, folks.

Indy Star Releases 2017 Holiday Music Playlist

Holly Hays, of the Indianapolis Star might be considered a lunatic.  But...if you're reading this site, then you'll be happy to know that Holly is just.like.all.of.us.  Except she admits that she listens to Christmas music the entire year.

The rest of us?  We cower in our cars keeping the volume down so we won't be judged.  And, she's taken it upon herself to celebrate the turn of the calendar to November by releasing her 2017 Christmas music playlist that includes 30 songs

From Holly's piece:
October is officially over, marking the unofficial start of the holiday season. And we've put together the perfect playlist to help get you in the holiday spirit.

And who better to assemble a premature holiday playlist than someone who listens to Christmas music all year? That's right. I, Holly Hays, being of sound mind and filled with Christmas cheer, listen to Holiday Jamz in July. And August. And whenever I darn well please. We've embedded it below and it is …

Sorry, Folks: Sia Doesn't Change Things

News today in Rolling Stone is that enigmatic 'star' Sia is coming out with a Christmas record.  Of original songs.  But, fortunately, it isn't coming out until later this year.  When we all know listening to Christmas music is more appropriate.
Sia announced plans on Tuesday to record her first Christmas album. The LP will be her first release through Atlantic Records – a new home for the singer after a pair of successful albums with RCA.

All the songs on Sia's Christmas LP will be originals composed with help from Greg Kurstin. Kurstin, an in-demand Top 40 savant (Adele, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson), previously worked with Sia on her last three albums and served as producer or co-producer on the singer's biggest solo hits: "Cheap Thrills," "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart." Originals?  Really?  I guess that's courageous, right? Based on her career, we should give it the benefit of the doubt, right?

There's no word yet if we a…

Christmas Music Driving You Mad?

Why you mad bro?

Is it because you work retail and you have to listen to the constant loop of Christmas music (or Muzak) at your store and you feel like you are going insane?  Welp...that might actually be happening.

Via Business Insider:
According to clinical psychologist Linda Blair, relentless festive tunes can be mentally draining.  "People working in the shops at Christmas have to [tune out] Christmas music, because if they don't, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else," Blair told Sky News. "You're simply spending all of your energy trying not to hear what you're hearing." First....sorry if you hate it.  But for the rest of us?  It gets us in the spirit.  And, retailers are trying to drive the 'spirit of the season' moving all of us to spend, spend, spend, right?
